Sixty-Four Members of Barbelle Health Gym, Community Centre, Piercestown, Wexford, travelled to Dublin on the 21st March 2026 to compete in the Battle Cancer Hybrid Fitness Challenge at the RDS Simmonscourt Pavilion.

The challenge, completed by teams of four contestants, combines endurance, teamwork, pure grit over 3 zones with 9 stations in total, with maximum effort and power required in a fun format. By all accounts, the Wexford teams competed admirably and great fun was had on the day.

The contestants are encouraged to use the event as a fundraiser for Cancer Charities, and this year Barbelle Health Gym nominated SERT (South East Radiotherapy Trust) and The Hope Centre, Enniscorthy, as the beneficiary of their fundraising. The Teams set a fundraising target of €5,000 and in the end exceeded this by almost three times.

Amy-Louise Jeffers, Eoghan Connolly and Caitlin Culleton gathered in Piercestown recently to present a Cheque for €7,452.50 to Martina Dempsey and Ray Heffernan, Co-ordinators for SERT, Wexford.

SERT are extremely grateful to Aisling Kehoe, who nominated SERT, Barbelle Health Gym members and their supporters for their generosity.
